Funding and Resource Opportunities

IDRE Call for Proposals, due October 22: The Institute for Digital Research and Education is soliciting internal proposals for focused research projects in the area of high-performance computing. The purpose of this annual solicitation is to help faculty and research groups identify and solve their "challenges" in high-performance computing. The proposals selected will awarded IDRE staff time and resources. Detailed information on the application process is at Announcements on the IDRE web site.

NSF CISE Computer Research Infrastructure, September 22: Two new awards have been introduced, Institutional and Community Infrastructure awards to support the provision of state-of-the-art computing research infrastructure.

The American Council of Learned Societies’ Digital Innovation Fellowship Program, October 2: The program is intended to support work in the humanities or humanistic social sciences which exemplifies the integration of the research with information technology-based tools.

The Stanford Humanities Center, October 15, 2008: The center will award one Digital Humanities fellowship for the academic year 2009-2010.

Travel Grants: IDRE makes travel grant awards to graduate students and post docs interested in high performance computing. If you have a conference or seminar in mind that advances knowledge in this area please send a request to Warren Mori at info@idre.ucla.edu

Software: The Portland Group is offering a no-cost PGI Visual Fortran license to students and faculty living in the USA.
