The Research Computing Forum is available for you to join us and others in the UCLA High Performance Computing community to ask questions, get answers and share your knowledge and successes in your HPC endeavors.
Nine proposals were received for the The 2007 IDRE Call for Proposals for focused research projects in the area of high-performance computing, with two being selected:
Exact many electron simulation methods for bond-breaking actions in liquids, WIlliam F. Glover and Professor Benjamin J. Swartz, Dept. of Chemistry and Biochemistry. IDRE research scientist, Prakashan Korambath will be a collaborator on the project.
High-Performance Image Processing for Cryo-Electron Microscopy, Xhark Zhang and Professor Z. Hong Zhou, Electron Imaging Center for Nanomachines, CNSI, and MIMG. IDRE research scientists Scott Friedman and Shao-Ching Huang will be collaborators on the project.
IDRE Data Center - The UCLA campus awarded IDRE approximately $4.2M in funding to build out and support the new IDRE data center located in the CNSI. IDRE will leverage this space to other researchers on campus through the Shared Cluster Hosting program – a program that allows researchers to add new nodes to the overall cluster pool. Researchers are guaranteed access to the number of nodes added, with the ability to use surplus cycles when needed.
Hypercities Wins MacArthur Foundation Grant – Professor of Germanic languages Todd Presner’s project HyperCities, a Web-based platform that shows city-spaces (Berlin, Los Angeles, and others) as they evolve over time, has won a grant totaling $238,000 from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
