The IDRE-HASIS Core Member Organizations

Academic Technology Services (ATS) is a campus-wide support organization dedicated to advancing digital research and scholarship. ATS provides both facilities and expertise in GIS and database support, digital media, visualization and three-dimensional modeling, and high-performance computing.

The Center for Digital Humanities (CDH) seeks to advance the research, teaching, and public service mission of the Humanities Division through the use of computing technology and new media. CDH coordinates and supports faculty research and teaching projects that employ these technologies by helping focus such projects, locating personnel and funding, discovering partners both inside and outside the university, and managing the projects over time. In addition to research and instructional project development, CDH also oversees the IT infrastructure and IT support for the Division, and provides comprehensive support and training for the use of instructional technologies, including the course websites that offer on-line enhancements to the 600+ undergraduate courses offered each quarter by the Humanities Division.

The UCLA Digital Library Program (DLP) serves as the catalyst for the creation, management, and delivery of digital content in support of the UCLA Library mission and goals. The Program provides for the storage and dissemination of digital objects, including text, images, audio, and video in their various digital manifestations and combinations. The UCLA Library provides a web presence for digital collections, and provides storage, backup and digital preservation support for all digital content accepted into, or developed by, the Library.

The Experiential Technologies Center (ETC) promotes the use of new technologies for experiential research in diverse disciplines including architecture, the performing arts, classics, archaeology, foreign language studies, and education.

The Institute for Digital Research and Education (IDRE) is a cooperative of faculty and technologists working to advance the existing body of knowledge and expertise at UCLA and support, expand, and guide a campus-wide program to make UCLA a world leader in high-performance computing and visualization research and education.

The Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) promotes interdisciplinary research on a broad spectrum of contemporary sociological, psychological, political, and economic problems and community issues. The Institute directly administers interdisciplinary research centers and programs, most of which sponsor conferences and working paper series. In addition, ISSR serves as home to a large archived collection of social science data.
