IDRE-HASIS Digital Project Pipeline Information Guide (Steps 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9)

Step 6. Securing a Commitment to Your Digital Project (MOU)

Developing a digital project is a time-consuming process. Its success and failure is tied directly to the involvement of the Principal Investigator (PI).  It is expected that faculty committed to long-term digital projects will seek course relief, request GSRs, and allocate resources for a technical project manager and/or additional project staff through a combination of internal and extramural funding.

Depending on the complexity of your project, it may require support from multiple campus units. The IDRE-HASIS planning team will work to balance the distribution of campus expertise and limited resources among a variety of projects. Those projects requiring expertise outside of the IDRE-HASIS team or those with a scale beyond the capacity of the collective campus partners will likely be directed elsewhere prior to the completion of the full project plan.

Once IDRE-HASIS has agreed to provide resources to advance your project, we will formally document this new collaboration with a memorandum of understanding, or MOU. The intent of this document is to clarify the level of commitment and expectations of all partners in the collaboration. With the MOU in place, your project is ready to move on to the project planning stage and secure commitment from the participating campus units.

If at any phase of the project it becomes clear that development needs to be postponed, you will be asked to request an extension of the MOU.
