Title: BUILDING A COMPUTATIONAL SCIENCE TEAM FOR ACCELERATOR DESIGN THROUGH SciDAC
Presented by: Kwok Ko, Head, Advanced Computations Department Stanford Linear Accelerator Center
SciDAC (Scientific Discovery through Advanced Computing) is a DOE Office of Science (SC) program to promote a multi-disciplinary team approach in applying high performance computing to the important applications in its program offices. Under this initiative, SLAC has built a computational science team comprising 3 national labs and 6 universities to support the electromagnetic simulations required by leading accelerator projects across SC. The team of applied mathematicians, computer and computational scientists works along side SLAC’s researchers to solve the challenging design problems facing next generation facilities such as the International Linear Collider. Progress in parallel code development, computational science collaborations and applications of this new modeling capability will be presented.
