Presented by: Kwan-Liu Ma

Abstract
The Institute for Ultra-Scale Visualization (IUSV), established in September 2006, is a 5-year research and outreach effort sponsored by the DOE SciDAC program to address the forthcoming petascale visualization challenges facing computational science and engineering. The Institute will foster the exchange of knowledge among universities, DOE laboratories, and industry to make advanced visualization an integrated component of scientific discovery. The Institute will revolutionize the very process of scientific discovery by equipping scientists with tools that shed light on the knowledge hidden in previously incomprehensible datasets. This seminar will introduce a few representative research projects and outreach activities of IUSV with the goal of seeking possibilities of involving researchers at UCLA in future projects/activities.
